A beginning farmer family struggles to access and transition land to organic production. Bryan and Theresa Kerkaert would like to farm organically, but have found there is little point in transitioning land on short-term leases.  As beginning farmers, available land is either too far away or out of reach financially. Leasing may be a viable alternative, but only where long-term leases are available.

Should the Kerkaerts give up on organic management and farm conventionally until they find land to purchase?
